The Java proficiency test is designed to measure a programmer's proficiency in JAVA programming. A panel of expert programmers from several industries wrote the test questions based on actual critical incidents encountered on-the-job while programming in JAVA. The questions were designed to sample a range of programming information, techniques, and applications in JAVA and is not platform specific.

The JAVA test covers topics in Object Oriented Programming (Polymorphism, Inheritance, Objects and Classes, Interfaces, Scope and Access), Language Constructs (Strings and Arrays, Scope Variables and Threads, Control Structures, Logical Operators, and Garbage Collection) and General Concepts such as Exception Handling and Compilation.
